The Cottage - Youth Hostel
Established in 1995 as a youth hostel offering budget accommodation mainly for students. The cottage continues to be a very popular stop over for individuals, couples, families and groups and it will continue to function in the same way. It is a traditional Hebridean stone cottage with open fire and many guests have commented on it's relaxing ambiance.
The cottage has 3 sleeping rooms, 1 open plan lounge/dining space and 1 shower/WC. For those who have stayed in the cottage and know the building we will be adding some new features for 2011. An extra shower & WC will be available in a separate building close to the cottage. This will allow more shower capacity and the new mains pressure shower will be a much awaited improvement on the old low pressure unit.
Sleeping rooms are:
- 1 x 6 person dorm with 3 bunk beds
- 1 x 4 person dorm with 4 single beds
- 1 x twin room
All rooms have a full sea view. Bed linen is included in the prices.
The lounge/kitchen/dining space has a 6 burner Rangemaster cooker with gas grill/oven and electric oven. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the cooking utensils you will need. The sitting area is separated from the kitchen by a dining bar and the whole space is heated by a stove fire which burns wood, peat and coal according to availability.
Outside there is a large patio area with tables which is perfect for barbecues. You can store bikes, hang things to dry and do your laundry in the unit next to the cottage and we will be enlarging and improving this area also for 2011.
There are extra charges for using the washing/drying appliances.
