About Us
Our location is on croft N°5 in Drinishader, a small quiet seaside village located on the east coast of Harris in the beautiful Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Drinishader is less than 10 minutes drive south from Tarbert, the main village on Harris. Our annual opening and closing dates are March - October and outwith those dates we open by appointment only.
Our main activity is providing various types of low to medium cost accommodation for individuals, groups & families. Among our main objectives is to create a "peace & quiet" location and to offer activities which compliment such. We will also be providing full catering services for 2012 with menu information coming soon.
We are not an outdoor or activity center, we will provide activity services mainly to our staying guests. The activities will be available from 1st April 2012 but we do already have some equipment for hire. At certain times we may have have surplus equipment which you are very welcome to hire if you are on the Outer Hebrides for your holiday.
Although we have been providing holiday accommodation in Drinishader since 1995 we are currently expanding and improving the accommodation facilities. We have already increased our
accommodation provision from 12 to 24 for this season and for 2012 we
are aiming to accommodate groups of up to 30 persons. This, along with the planned new activities and services means you can really experience a more complete, traditional and nature orientated holiday with us.
Along with the new activities there will also be equipment for hire such as canoes, kayaks and cycles, plus all the associated accessories and required safety gear. You must have at least some basic experience before canoes or kayaks are hired out without a guide or instructor.
Our location, overlooking East Loch Tarbert and with easy seaside access creates a natural opportunity for us to provide accommodation and activities in an idyllic setting. We are also privileged to have access to some superb nearby lakes which are perfect for beginner's to paddle around and do some training.
For activities our staff will be trained and certified as guides or instructors and we will operate under the auspices of the AALA (Adventure Activity Licensing Authority). Your safety is our most important concern during your stay and we trust you will help us to achieve reasonable safety standards by paying close attention during safety briefings, training sessions and all other safety aspects. Please note that the BOTH provider and the user must act responsibly throughout the duration of your stay and while engaged in any activity, prevention is better than cure!
